Blue Waters Lakes
review
After a very easy drive of around 4 hours from Calais we pulled into the carp park of the lake and we where greeted by the owners Jim and Jan. We where made very welcome and where offered a cold beer or tea & coffee, a very nice touch and more than welcome.
We then made our way around the lake and spent an hour or so looking at swims.
Back at the hut we drew for swims and made our way to our chosen homes for the week.
I would like to say at this point that there was not a bad swim on the lake in my opinion so every one was happy.
The fish where spawning until the Tuesday and the weather was very hot and we had little to no wind until the Thursday, so conditions where against us all week.
We still managed to bank over 50 plus fish and 2 cats, the biggest carp went 47lb 8oz and the biggest cat 36lb.
All in all it was not a bad result fish wise for the week allowing for the conditions.
I found the lake to be very pretty and Jim keeps it litter free, and as a result we never saw a rat all week.
In my opinion for what its worth it is a very nice place to spend a weeks fishing and the lake has a good head of big carp and cats to go at.
The use of a bait boat with a graphical feature finder is a real bonus and would suggest to fish on the shallow raised parts of the lake and to the tree margins on the point swims.
There is a town less than 10 minutes drive away from the lake, where you will find everything you will need if you go drive and survive or take the food package as it is very good value and will make things so much easier.
You can buy snacks, pop and beer from the lodge at very good prices, again a nice touch on the owners part.
All in all I would recommend the venue and would go back for another week for sure
