At 4 acres in size, stream fed Moulicent was built in 1970 and has never before been fished for carp. During 2008 original fish to 33lbs were caught and in addition to this, a further 95 fish were stocked, 66 in November 2007 and the remaining stock in January 2008.
The fish have unbelievably surpassed my highest expectations with weight gain during 2008 and some are definitely worth mentioning, for example one notable big framed mirror that I stocked in 2007 at 37lb 8oz was captured in April at 44lb 8oz, Over 7lbs in 5 months during a cold winter!! Also worth mentioning, a common stocked at exactly 30lb in January 2008 avoided capture until August 2008 when it was captured at a staggering 36lb 8oz! (Pictured Left)
At the moment (Feb 2009) the average weight is approximately 28 – 29lb, my aspiration is for Moulicent to maintain an average weight in the mid 30s. I strongly believe this can be achieved through good fishery management the avoidance of over stocking.
